Not big on eating your veggies?!
There’s many out there that suffer from problem skin and with knowing that a healthy green diet can significantly change this isn’t always the answer people want to hear. There’s now a fantastic way to get all the nutrients that are so key and important to our daily diets and you will love knowing (or not in this case) that you’re getting your daily vegetable intake!!
Greens are essential for a healthy, glowing complexion and who doesn’t want fantastic looking skin? Dark leafy greens like kale and Swiss chard are one of the top sources of beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant that helps repair and renew your skin to give it a youthful glow.” Spinach is packed with folate which is a vital nutrient for DNA repair so it helps to keep your skin looking its best !! Avocados, which are ranked by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most nutritious fruit, not only rich in vitamins A, C, E and K but also boast “healthy” fats that make them both heart healthy and wonderful for hair and skin. (Research has even shown that avocados can help with serious skin issues like eczema.) “Berries like blueberries and acai,” says Simpson are “rich in proanthocyanidins (a kind of condensed tannin — like the ones found in red wine that are purported to pack many health benefits) and have been shown to help reduce oxidative stress in the body.” What that means in language we can easily understand is that research has shown that these proanthocyanidins may act as “free radical scavengers” that “gobble up” some of the “bad” things that get into our bodies like pollution and cigarette smoke. In addition to heart-healthy fats, almonds have loads of vitamin E, which is great for beauty because, it “is a nutrient that protects skin cell membranes from damage to keep your complexion radiant and youthful.” “Almonds are an excellent source of biotin” (AKA vitamin B-7) which is instrumental in keeping hair and nails (and skin and muscles) healthy.
Now that we’ve been informed on some foods that are great for us I wanted to share with you all how I go about taking this information and putting it into action! I use the nutri-bullet which I have found to be the best machine out of the ones I have tried, it makes a great morning shake without losing any nutriton from the foods used – it is an extractor as well as a blender and it works amazing !!
Here is my favorite morning shake recipe that always gets me feeling my best to start the day off on the right foot
4 leaves Kale, stems removed
- 1/2 c spinach
- 1 small handful of almonds
- 1/2 of a banana
- 1/2 c of raspberries (you can get a large bag of frozen organic dark berries at BJ’s or Costco’s)
- 1/2 c of blueberries
- 1/2 c almond milk
- Fill the rest with water – extract & there you have a DELICIOUS morning shake !!
I hope you enjoy as much as I do – there’s several different ways to go about making the perfect shake that meets your taste buds, you can experiment by adding or subtracting different greens as well as fruits each morning and find that PERFECT match that will have you actually looking FORWARD to getting your greens in each day!! Here’s to a happy green filled diet to make your skin glow!
